I’m delighted to be part of a conference — Spirituality in Untrusting Waters — in Sydney, Australia in February 2019. The conference is a collaborative initiative of Uniting, Wesley Mission, Uniting Theological College and The Uniting Church in Australia Synod of NSW and ACT. Links are here and you can email for registration on pastoralstrength[@]uniting.org

I’ll be speaking and hosting the event, and am looking forward immensely to hearing Rev Dr Storm Swain, Associate Professor, Pastoral Care and Theology. Storm is New Zealand born and now lives in New York. Her PhD and her CPE supervisory practice expand on her experiences of working with the chaplains at the 9/11 ground zero mortuary.

Workshops are designed to allow participants to choose both academic and experiential opportunities on a wide variety of topics including:

  • Aboriginal spirituality,

  • Impact of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse,

  • Death café,

  • Experiential spirituality (body, mind and soul),

  • Insights in to CALD communities,

  • Engaging with LBGTQI,

  • Inter-faith liturgy and more.

The Pastoral Strength conference is an interfaith event; so pastoral practitioners working within multi-faith organisations are very welcome to attend.
