I’ll be offering a day-retreat at St. Mark’s Church in Sheffield on October 19 this year. Booking here.
Spending time with the Book of Ruth.
The Book of Ruth is an extraordinary book from the Hebrew bible. In it, the lives of two displaced women are explored. They are both border-crossers. They are both workers. They are both in need. They are both widows. They look after each other and navigate their safety in a climate that wasn’t always friendly.
This book tells us so much: it speaks of the political power of kindness. It also speaks of fortitude and determination and grit.
This is a biblical book that has a message for all, at all times of life. It is about borders and famine and food and friendship. It is about women and it is about the rules of men. It is about power. And it is about pain.
Together we will read this book, exploring its messages and story and brilliance.
I’ll be preaching the morning service at St. Mark’s on Sunday 20th October.
